TL; DR
  • Live images of the Xiaomi 16 Pro Max confirm a dual-display setup with a Mi 11 Ultra-style secondary screen, rectangular camera module with dual sensors, plus a third sensor and flash outside the block.
  • The design looks strikingly similar to the iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge leaks, hinting at a broader trend across 2025 flagships.
  • Older leaks suggest a 6.8-inch 2K LTPO flat OLED with 1.15 mm bezels, triple 50 MP rear cameras (SmartSens 590 1/1.28” main + ISOCELL GN8 1/2” telephoto + ultra-wide), Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (or 8 Elite 2), and a massive 7,500 mAh battery with 100W wired / 50W wireless charging.

If you thought the dual-display trend was over, think again. The Xiaomi 17 Pro Max has just appeared in live images, and it makes a strong case that this design idea is far from dead. The leaked shots give us the clearest look yet at Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship, showing off a rear secondary screen reminiscent of the Mi 11 Ultra. Let’s take a close look.

Xiaomi 17 Pro Max Design with Secondary Display on the Rear

Shared by tipster Kartikey Singh on X (formerly Twitter), the phone features a dual-display setup, reviving the Mi 11 Ultra’s rear screen idea but with a refreshed execution. The rectangular camera island houses two main sensors, while a third sits below with the flash positioned outside the block.

Interestingly, the secondary rear display is said to deliver high resolution, brightness, and always-on functionality as well. It will also feature a high refresh rate with LTPO technology. Another fresh leak suggests that the secondary display won’t just be a small panel but will stretch across the entire camera module, very similar to the edge-to-edge covers on modern flip phones.

From the front, the device is said to feature a flat 6.8-inch panel with razor-thin 1.15 mm bezels, which could shrink even closer to 1 mm in the final version. The back look feels immediately familiar, echoing recent leaks of the iPhone 17 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge. If these images are anything to go by, 2025 might be the year most brands rally around this back design.
