TL; DR
  • A supply-chain leak claims Apple’s foldable iPhone could use a liquid metal hinge.
  • The main body is said to switch to a revised titanium alloy for strength and weight reduction.
  • Launch timing is still pointed at late 2026, alongside the iPhone 18 Pro.

Another day, another foldable iPhone leak. This time, the focus is on materials. A new supply-chain report shared by a Korean Naver blogger suggests Apple’s first foldable, often referred to as the iPhone Fold, may use a liquid metal hinge paired with an upgraded titanium body.

The hinge material is described as liquid metal, an amorphous alloy Apple has been experimenting with for years in smaller components. According to the leak, this material is being considered for the folding mechanism to improve durability over repeated use.

The same report claims Apple is planning to move beyond aluminum for the chassis and instead use a revised titanium alloy. Compared to the titanium used in current iPhones, this version is said to offer better strength while shaving off some weight. For a book-style foldable, that trade-off matters more than usual.

Other rumored details remain consistent with earlier leaks. The device is expected to use a book-style design with an inner folding display around 7.76 inches and a smaller outer display close to 5.49 inches. Camera expectations stay modest, with dual rear cameras and possible under-display camera tech on the inner panel.

Most reports continue to point to late 2026, possibly alongside the iPhone 18 lineup, with early 2027 still on the table if development stretches out. As usual with Apple hardware this far out, nothing here is locked in.
