Why I’d Choose the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 Over the Motorola Razr 60 Ultra

The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra recently launched with appealing specs, but despite its appeal, I’d opt for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 over it, even though both are available similarly at ₹1L for the 512GB variants. The Z Flip 6, in fact, is available for ₹89,999 for the 256GB variant too.

The Razr 60 Ultra boasts the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, but the Z Flip 6 comes with last year’s 8 Gen 3. While the Razr might seem superior on paper, the Z Flip 6 delivers a more polished and reliable experience. Here are my reasons for choosing the Z Flip 6 over the Razr 60 Ultra.

Reason 1: Superior Software Support and Updates

flip 6

Samsung has a strong track record for software updates, and the Z Flip 6 is promised 7 years of updates, ensuring support until 2031. Despite some delays with One UI 7, most Samsung devices have already received it, and One UI 8 is expected soon, promising further improvements.

In contrast, Motorola is notorious for slow updates, a problem that persists even in 2025. The Razr 60 Ultra only offers three years of updates, ending in 2029, which feels underwhelming for a ₹1 lakh smartphone. Even Samsung’s ₹10,000 phones offer six years of updates, twice that of Motorola’s ₹1 lakh phone.

Reason 2: Better Software Optimization and Features

The Z Flip 6 runs on One UI, which is smooth, well-optimized, and excels in multitasking on a foldable screen. It also supports HDR on Netflix, enhancing the viewing experience, while the Razr 60 Ultra lacks this feature.

Additionally, the Razr 60 Ultra uses an outdated USB 2.0 port, which feels out of place in 2025, whereas the Z Flip 6 offers a more modern USB 3.2 Gen 1 port for faster data transfer.

Reason 3: More Refined Cameras and App Experience

flip 6

The Z Flip 6’s 50 MP main and 12 MP ultra-wide cameras deliver consistent and polished results, especially in portrait photography, where it excels with natural colors and better focus on close-up subjects. Video recording is also superior, with better HDR handling for bright scenes.

Motorola’s imaging, however, has historically been inconsistent, and the Razr 60 Ultra’s 50 MP cameras don’t match Samsung’s reliability. The app experience on the Z Flip 6 is also more seamless, with features like Expert RAW and great portrait photography.

Reason 4: Better Durability and Aftersales Support

Samsung has years of experience with foldable phones, and the Z Flip 6’s dual rail hinge design feels more robust for long-term use. Both devices are IP48-rated for dust and water resistance, but Samsung’s build quality inspires more confidence.

Additionally, Samsung’s aftersales service is generally more reliable than Motorola’s, which has been criticized for being inconsistent and sluggish.

Reason 5: Slower Value Depreciation

flip 6

Both phones will lose value over time, but Motorola devices tend to depreciate faster due to brand perception and market demand. The Z Flip 6, backed by Samsung’s stronger resale value, is likely to hold its worth better in the long run, making it a smarter investment.

Reason 6: More Mature and Actually Useful AI Features

Galaxy Z Flip6 Galaxy AI

Galaxy AI on the Z Flip 6 is deeply integrated and offers practical tools like live call translation, AI in the notes app, live interpretation, and the audio eraser feature. Many of these run on-device, ensuring faster performance and better privacy. The native photo editing AI eraser on the Z Flip 6 also works seamlessly, unlike the Razr 60 Ultra, which relies on Google Photos.

In contrast, the Razr 60 Ultra’s Moto AI features, like Remember This and Catch Me Up, feel gimmicky, lack polish, and don’t support many popular apps. The Moto AI button isn’t even remappable, limiting its utility. The AI suggestions for which AI feature to use are also gimmicky and so is the Look to Talk feature.

Conclusion

While the Razr 60 Ultra might edge out in raw specs with its larger 4-inch cover screen, faster charging, and 165 Hz refresh rate, the Z Flip 6 offers a more complete and dependable package. From better software support and optimization to superior cameras, durability, and AI features, the Z Flip 6 is the better choice for a premium flip phone. Which one would you pick and why? I would choose the Motorola razr. I have tried the 40 and the 50 series. I also had the galaxy flip 5 and 6. Always had problems with the screens although after service was good but expensive… The 40 series also had problems with the screens and not good after service and expensive… The 50 series was definitely better and more durable… it’s still okay and although I’m very happy with it. I may bite the bullet for the 60 series since it been upgraded… But hey, technology is always changing so either phones are really personal choices… You can not go wrong on any of them… 😎
