TL; DR
  • Vivo officially set March 17 as the launch date for the T5x 5G in India, its latest budget-segment contender and successor to last year’s T4x 5G.
  • The phone packs a 7,200mAh silicon-carbon battery, a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Turbo chipset, a 50MP Sony IMX852 camera, and rare IP68/IP69 water resistance for its price bracket.
  • Tipsters place the starting price below Rs. 20,000, with the top 8GB + 256GB variant expected to land close to the Rs. 23,000 ceiling that Vivo has officially teased.

Vivo is done dropping hints. The company has officially confirmed that the T5x 5G hits India on March 17, and if even half the spec sheet holds up, budget phone shoppers are going to have a very good week.

Think of the T5x as Vivo’s answer to a question buyers have been asking since last year: what happens if you take the T4x — a phone that sold well but never quite scratched the performance itch — and actually push the hardware? Turns out, you get something worth talking about.

What Vivo Has Actually Confirmed

Vivo is leading with two numbers it clearly wants you to remember. First, the T5x 5G runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Turbo chipset, which has already crossed the one million mark on AnTuTu benchmarks — a score Vivo says makes it the fastest smartphone in its segment as of early March 2026. That’s a bold claim, but not an empty one given how the Dimensity 7400 Turbo has been performing across other devices.

Second, and arguably more exciting for anyone who has ever watched their phone die at 2 PM on a busy day, the T5x packs a 7,200mAh battery. Vivo is calling it the biggest in its segment, and they’re probably right.

Then there’s the durability angle. The T5x carries both IP68 and IP69 ratings — at under Rs. 23,000, that’s not something you see every day. Rainstorm, sweaty gym bag, kitchen sink mishap: all covered.

As for everything else, the phone ships with Android 16 and OriginOS 6, confirmed 8GB + 256GB storage, and comes in Cyber Green and Star White. A cheaper 8GB + 128GB variant is widely expected too. It’ll be available on Flipkart, Vivo’s own store, and offline retail from day one.

What the Leaks Are Saying

Reliable tipster Yogesh Brar has painted a fairly detailed picture of what else to expect. According to him, that 7,200mAh cell uses silicon-carbon battery technology — which allows for higher energy density without bloating the phone’s size — and supports 44W wired fast charging. Vivo is reportedly promising five years of battery health retention, which is a meaningful commitment if it holds true in real-world use.

On cameras, Brar points to a 50MP Sony IMX852 main sensor — the kind you’d normally find on phones well above this price range — with 4K video recording on board. A 32MP front camera has also surfaced in multiple reports, rounding out what looks like a solid all-around setup for the money. Two years of Android updates and four years of security patches are reportedly part of the package as well.

The Price Question

Vivo hasn’t confirmed a price yet, but their own teasers have done most of the talking — the phone is officially slotted under Rs. 23,000. Tipster Brar narrows it further, putting the base model below Rs. 20,000 and the top 8GB + 256GB variant near that Rs. 23,000 mark.

Yes, that’s a step up from the T4x’s Rs. 13,999 starting price, but looking at what’s changed — the battery, the chip, the camera, the IP rating — it’s hard to argue the gap isn’t earned.

The confirmed price drops on March 17. Until then, all eyes are on launch day.
