The Galaxy S25 series is said to exclusively use Qualcomm’s upcoming flagship Snapdragon chipset. This scoop comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, a leaker with a solid track record. According to Kuo, Qualcomm will be the sole supplier for the Galaxy S25 series, mainly because Samsung’s Exynos 2500 might not ship due to lower-than-expected 3nm yield issues.
For some context, Samsung went all-in on Qualcomm for the Galaxy S23 series, using the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy across the board. They then brought back Exynos chips with the Galaxy S24 and S24+ in Indian and European markets.

But now, it looks like Samsung is swinging back to Qualcomm for the Galaxy S25 series. The Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are all expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset in all regions, including India and Europe.
Why is this a big deal? First, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will have a hefty price increase of 25-30%, which is a win for Qualcomm. TSMC, the manufacturer of the 3nm process for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, will also benefit from this move.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 promises serious performance boosts. Leaked benchmarks show a single-core score of 3500 on Geekbench, and clock speeds are expected to jump from 3.3 GHz on the 8 Gen 3 to a massive 4 GHz or even 4.26 GHz.

The architecture is shifting from 1 + 3 + 4 to 2 + 6, meaning no efficiency cores, which makes the 8 Gen 4 a bit of a power-hungry beast. This can result in some efficiency issues, but that’s a story for another day. Plus, it’s going to support LPDDR6 RAM, moving on from the LPDDR5X in the 8 Gen 3.
By opting for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, Samsung will (likely) stay competitive, especially against Apple’s upcoming A18 chip. Exynos, infamous for its efficiency and thermal issues, is being sidelined (for good).

The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will be unveiled at the Snapdragon Summit 2024, which will take place from October 21 to 23 in Maui, Hawaii. What are your thoughts on this? Do you want to see Eyxnos on the upcoming Galaxy S series or not? Let us know in the comments section below.
