Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2: Details

This brand-new type of display protection has been developed by Samsung in partnership with Corning, and this will mark the first commercial use of the new glass protection. Corning announced Glass Ceramic in March, and it is capable of surviving 10 repeated drops from a meter onto a surface like asphalt.

Samsung’s press release claims that Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 is a next-gen composite that embeds crystals within a glass matrix to increase toughness, resist cracking, and maintain optical clarity. Interaction between the glass and crystal components is engineered to enhance toughness while maintaining high optical transparency.

Samsung hasn’t confirmed if Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 is stronger than Gorilla Glass Ceramic, or is it just a reengineered version for the sleek phone like Galaxy S25 Edge.

“Galaxy S25 Edge will set a new standard for craftsmanship and performance. To support this breakthrough design, it was essential to develop a display material that was both exceptionally thin and reliably strong,” says Kwnagjin Bae, EVP & Head of Mechanical R&D at Samsung’s MX Division.

Corning claims that Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 will offer better durability due to the company’s ion-exchange strengthening process. “With Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, we’ve achieved a remarkable combination of thinness and strength. The craftsmanship of Galaxy S25 Edge with Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 underscores our commitment to durability in premium mobile design”, says Andrew Beck, VP & GM of Corning Gorilla Glass.

Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge: Features (confirmed & rumored)

The upcoming Galaxy S25 Edge will be the slimmest flagship phone and join the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, and Galaxy S25 Ultra families. The phone will be equipped with AI features and feature a 200MP main camera at the back.

Leaks claim that the Galaxy S25 Edge might be priced at around Rs. 1,20,000 and come in Titanium Jetblack, Titanium Iceblue, and Titanium Silver shades. It is expected to draw power from the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset and run Android 15-based One UI 7 out of the box.

The Galaxy S25 Edge might flaunt a 6.7-inch AMOLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and have a thickness of merely 5.85mm. It will weigh around 163 grams and be IP68 rated as well. Under the hood, it will pack a 3900mAh battery and support WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity.
