TL; DR
  • Redmi A7 Pro 5G launched in India, starting at ₹11,499.
  • Features 120Hz display, UNISOC chipset, 6,300mAh battery, and Android 16.
  • Offers long software support, but limited 4GB RAM may impact long-term performance.

Xiaomi India has expanded its entry-level 5G portfolio by launching the new Redmi A7 Pro 5G. Despite featuring basic hardware, the smartphone impresses with its 120Hz display and a massive battery (at least on paper). Here’s everything you need to know about the newly-launched A7 Pro 5G, including the pricing, availability, key features, and technical specifications.

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G is available in two variants.

Redmi will commence with the sales of the device from April 15, 2026, via Amazon India, Xiaomi’s official website, and Xiaomi’s offline retail network. This is the introductory pricing for the smartphone, and there are no offers as such.

Redmi A7 Pro 5G: Key Features & Tech Specs

The Redmi A7 Pro 5G features a 6.9-inch HD+ IPS LCD screen that supports 120Hz refresh rate, 240Hz touch sampling rate, and several useful features that can help users on a day-to-day basis, including Wet Touch Technology 2.0 (to use the screen with damp, oily, or soapy fingers) and DC dimming for a comfortable user experience.

Under the hood, the smartphone runs on the UNISOC T8300 6nm chipset (with a peak frequency of 2.2 GHz), and a 950 MHz Mali-G57 GPU. The chipset is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4X RAM and up to 1288GB of UFS 2.2 storage. To expand storage, you can also use a microSD card with a capacity of up to 2TB.

Out of the box, the Redmi A7 Pro 5G runs on HyperOS 3 based on Android 16. Despite being an entry-level 5G handset, Redmi has promised to provide four years of Android updates and six years of security updates with it, which is quite good. However, my concern is whether the chipset is capable enough to provide decent performance four years down the line, with relatively heavier or complex Android updates.

To capture pictures, you get a 32MP (f/2.0) rear-facing camera. There’s an 8MP (f/2.0) camera on the front for capturing selfies. There are features like AI Sky and Document Mode as well. Powering the handset is a 6,300 mAh battery that supports 15W wired charging (I wouldn’t call it fast in today’s day and age).

Connectivity options on the smartphone include 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.4, GPS, GLONASS, and a USB Type-C port. Surprisingly, there’s a 3.5mm audio and headphone jack and support for FM radio as well. You also get a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for restricting access.

Smartprix’s Take

The ongoing memory crisis seems to be at play here, which is probably why the Redmi has gone with UNISOC chipsets instead of an entry-level MediaTek chip. Further, the company is restricting RAM to 4GB, which is another sign that the smartphone industry is under severe cost pressure. What’s good, however, is that the company is proving an excellent software support to make up for that.
