TL; DR
  • The Pixel 10 series launch is set for August 13th.
  • We will get a standard Pixel 10, a Pixel 10 Pro, a larger Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
  • The phones will be powered by the new Tensor G5 chipset made by TSMC.

The annual Pixel pre-launch ritual appears to be well underway, with new reports indicating Google is targeting an August 13th “Made by Google” event for the launch of the Pixel 10 series phones. This piece of information was first shared by by leaker @MysteryLupin, further coroborated by Android Headlines. In typical Google fashion, the date reveal was swiftly followed by the Pixel 10 Pro prodcut images.

This year, Google is rumored to be expanding its smartphone portfolio significantly, with expectations pointing towards four distinct Pixel 10 models: a standard Pixel 10, a Pixel 10 Pro, a larger Pixel 10 Pro XL, and what could be its next-generation foldable, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The leaked images showcase a Device Verification Test (DVT) unit of the Pixel 10 Pro, conveniently running a device info app. This has provided an early, albeit unconfirmed, look at the powerhouse within: the next-generation Tensor G5 chipset. Past reports have suggested that the G5 will bring a substantial upgrade over its predecessor, the Tensor G4, partly due to its fabrication on TSMC’s advanced 3nm node – a move that promises notable gains in performance and efficiency.

Digging deeper into the specifics displayed by the app, the Pixel 10 Pro unit, codenamed “blazer,” is listed with 16GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. The Tensor G5’s architecture was also partially revealed, with the following CPU configuration:

  • 1x Cortex-X4 (High-performance core)
  • 3x Cortex-A725 (Performance cores)
  • 2x Cortex-A725 (Additional performance/mid-cores)
  • 2x Cortex-A520 (Efficiency cores)

Beyond raw power, the overarching theme for the Pixel 10 lineup appears to be strategic refinement coupled with a focus on cameras. Notably, the standard Pixel 10 model is expected to feature a triple camera setup on the back just like the other Pixel 10 series phones. Aesthetically, the Pixel 10 series is expected to maintain a design language largely consistent with the current Pixel 9 generation. However, a fresh palette of color options are coming to the new models.

We will know more information about the Pixel 10 series in the coming weeks as the launch nears.
