Last month, we unveiled the first look of the OnePlus Fold, OnePlus’ inaugural foldable phone, to the world. Excitingly, OnePlus has announced that the official launch of the OnePlus Fold aka Oneplus Open is set to take place in the last week of August at a highly anticipated event in New York. This information comes from reliable tipster Arvind, who claims to have obtained it from trusted sources within the brand. As per his sources, if everything goes as planned the launch will happen on August 29. As Mr. Arvind did not provide any additional information regarding the source of his claims, we are unable to verify the accuracy of his statements.

Renowned OnePlus leaker Max Jambor, earlier revealed that the first OnePlus foldable device will likely be named ‘OnePlus Open.’ Apparently, OnePlus secured the trademark for this name back in May, along with several others such as Prime, Wing, Peak, and Edge, suggesting a diverse lineup of foldable phones. However, it seems that OnePlus Open will be the chosen name for their initial offering.

OnePlus Open Specification Expectations

According to rumors and extensive leaks, the OnePlus V Fold/Open is expected to sport a 7.8-inch foldable inner display complemented by a 6.3-inch outer screen, both featuring an impressive 120Hz refresh rate.

In terms of performance, the upcoming OnePlus foldable is rumored to incorporate Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, along with a minimum of 256GB of RAM and up to 16GB of storage. The camera setup is anticipated to consist of two 48MP rear cameras, serving as the primary shooter and the ultra-wide sensor, alongside a 64MP telephoto camera, completing the triple camera arrangement.

To keep the device powered throughout the day, a robust 4,800mAh battery pack is said to be included, with support for 67W fast wired charging. Additionally, due to the unique form factor, OnePlus is expected to integrate a side-mounted fingerprint scanner on this highly anticipated foldable device.

Thanks for the tip, Arvind.
