The sports eyewear brand Oakley has teamed up with Meta to introduce AI-powered Smart Glasses in the country. This innovative category of smart eyewear signifies a new phase in Meta’s growing collaboration, building on the success of its Ray-Ban Meta collection. The launch combines Oakley’s athletic design heritage with Meta’s advancements in AI and wearable technology, thereby broadening Meta’s portfolio in wearable tech.

Oakley Meta Glasses: Price & Availability

The Oakley Meta Glasses have been introduced in both a standard model and a limited-edition variant. The standard models are priced starting at approximately USD 399, which is around Rs. 34,560, while pre-orders for the limited edition version will commence on July 11, with a price tag of USD 499 (approximately Rs. 43,220). These glasses will be available for purchase through the Meta and Oakley websites. They will be offered in the US, Canada, Ireland, France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Australia, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark. Additionally, the company plans to expand availability to Mexico, India, and the UAE in 2025.

The Limited Edition model commemorates Oakley’s 50th anniversary, showcasing unique gold accents and Desert 24k Prizm Polar lenses, although the specifications remain identical to the standard version.

The standard model is available in warm grey with prizm ruby, black with prizm polar black, black with clear lenses, black with transitions amethyst, brown smoke with prizm polar deep water, and clear with transitions grey.

Oakley Meta Glasses: Features

The smart glasses are equipped with a 3K camera that includes a built-in wide 12MP sensor, enabling hands-free photo and video capture. They will utilize LED lights to signal when a photo or video is being recorded, ensuring privacy. Additionally, the glasses feature open-ear directional Bluetooth speakers for enjoying music, podcasts, and making calls while remaining aware of your environment. The Meta AI assistant provides hands-free assistance, allowing you to receive real-time updates, play music, take photos, send messages, and more simply by saying ‘Hey Meta’. Users can manage playback, calls, and content through touch and voice controls.

The Oakley Meta Smart Glasses boast an IPX4 rating for water resistance, making them ideal for use in rain, sweat, and splashes.

Regarding battery life, these glasses provide up to 8 hours of standard usage, 5 hours of uninterrupted audio playback, and can remain on standby for as long as 19 hours. They can be charged from 0 to 80% in just 45 minutes, and the accompanying case offers additional power for up to 48 hours.

These glasses also feature accessibility options for users with visual, auditory, or mobility impairments, including voice control and integration with the Be My Eyes network. They are compatible with Android 10+ and iPhone 10+ through the Meta AI app.
