Meta AI, the company’s AI assistant, is now available in India. Going forward, users of WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram will be able to use the AI assistant to get things done, create content, deep-dive on topics, and perform other tasks. Further, those working on their computers can access Meta’s chatbot at meta.ai.

Meta AI is based on Llama 3, which is among the latest models the company has developed. For now, the AI assistant is available in English. Regarding its capabilities, Meta AI works like pretty much any other chatbot: you can answer your queries, and it responds with a relevant solution. However, what differentiates it from other models is its integration into Meta’s ecosystem of apps.

How To Use Meta AI On Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger?

Chat with Meta AI

On WhatsApp, Instgram, or Messenger, users can invoke the AI chatbot by tagging it in the chat using the “@MetaAI” command, followed by their query or request. With this method, users can take Meta AI’s help in tasks like translating texts, summarizing messages, writing emails, taking move or restaurant suggestions, and other similar tasks.

To start a direct conversation with Meta AI, head to the DM section in Instagram, tap on “Start a new chat,” select “Create an AI chat,” and tap Meta AI. Now, start chatting with the chatbot by typing your query or the topic you wish to discuss. Similarly, users can tap the New Chat button in WhatsApp/Messenger and select New AI Chat from the available options.

What Can You Do With Meta AI?

Ask Meta AI on Facebook

On Facebook, Meta AI can help users gather more context or information about a particular post. Users can ask the chatbot to fetch more details about any picture they see on the platform. For instance, if someone comes across a picture of the northern lights in Iceland, they can ask the chatbot about the best time to visit the natural phenomenon.

WhatsApp group users can ask the chatbot to recommend restaurants to dine out or games to play during a night’s stay. The chatbot can also suggest road trip destinations for a weekend. The company has also clarified that the chatbot doesn’t access texts unless someone mentions or tags it in the chat.

On Instagram, Meta AI can do the same things, making itself useful in group chats. Further, it can also recommend Reels based on your viewing preference or search topic. This is one feature that I would like to test in particular because looking for Reels using the current search bar in Instgram isn’t a good experience. For someone who is preparing for an exam, Meta AI on the web can even give them a multiple-choice test.

Last but not least, Meta AI can also help users generate images with its Imagine feature. While interacting with the chatbot directly or in a group chat, users can ask it to create images based on the prompt they provide. With this feature, users can create a fun birthday invite for their friends, ask the chatbot to animate it and ask their friends for help editing an image.

While Meta AI wasn’t immediately available to test, we are sure that it will rollout to all users in the coming days.
