TL;DR
  • Apple iPhone SE 4 is rumored to arrive on February 11 with at least eight major updates.
  • These include A18 chipset, 48MP camera, Apple Intelligence, iOS 18, OLED display, USB-C charging & more.

Apple is preparing to unveil the next-generation iPhone SE shortly, as reported yesterday. The iPhone SE 4 is set to be released this week, with Apple opting for a soft launch rather than a dedicated event. This new model arrives three years after its predecessor, which debuted in 2022. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the iPhone SE 4 could be launched on February 11, which is tomorrow. While Apple has not officially confirmed this date, there is a possibility that it may be accurate. In this article, we will explore eight significant updates that will enhance the iPhone SE 4 compared to earlier models.

1. Refreshed Design

Apple is ditching the Home button design and coming up with a full-screen design resembling the iPhone 14 for the iPhone SE 4. It will have a notch at the top for Face ID bringing iPhone SE 4 in line with Apple’s latest design language.

2. Larger Display

One of the biggest changes is a larger display being incorporated in the iPhone SE 4. The affordable iPhone is expected to get a 6.06-inch OLED panel which will be a huge leap from the 4.7-inch LCD display seen on iPhone SE 3. The panel will support a 60Hz refresh rate. The Display might also have Dynamic Island, an interactive display feature seen in the iPhone 14 series for a better user experience.

3. More Powerful Chipset

This time iPhone SE 4 is likely to be powered by Apple A18 SoC, the same chipset that powered the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus. The chipset will offer a faster performance, more efficiency, and save energy, making it suitable for this entry-level iPhone. The chipset will support 8GB RAM and 128GB storage onboard.

4. Better Cameras

In terms of camera too, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to get better. iPhone SE 4 will sport a 48MP sensor at the back for photography. Also, the front sensor is expected to be 24MP for selfies and video calls. Some reports claim a 12MP front camera too, so we will know the exact details when it launches. If these camera upgrades do materialize, the iPhone SE 4 will join the league of good camera phones in this price segment.

5. Apple Intelligence Support

Apple introduced AI features calling them Apple Intelligence with the iPhone 16 Series. iPhone SE 4 is expected to be the cheapest iPhone to support Apple Intelligence features. The suite includes enhanced Siri, AI-powered writing tools, intelligent photo editing, personalized suggestions, and more. The iPhone SE 4 will also run iOS 18 out of the box.

6. USB-C Charging

Similar to the entire iPhone 16 lineup, the iPhone SE 4 will also support USB-C charging, complying with European regulations. This will allow the iPhone to return to the European market.

7. Apple’s in-house 5G Modem

iPhone SE 4 is also expected to debut Apple’s in-house cellular 5G modem, replacing Qualcomm’s components for better overall performance and control.

8. Price Hike

This isn’t really an update that the iPhone is getting, but for those who are wondering about pricing iPhone SE 4 might get a price hike. Reports claim iPhone SE 4 might cost 499 USD in the US which translates to around Rs. 44,000 in India. However, India pricing is tipped to get a bump to Rs. 50,000 with taxes and all included.

With its launch imminent, we are set to learn all the details about this entry-level iPhone as it is expected to debut this week. In addition to the iPhone SE 4, Apple may also introduce the Powerbeats Pro 2 earbuds during the same timeframe. These new earbuds will be available in purple, orange, and light brown, featuring a slimmer profile than their predecessors. They will also boast an ergonomic design and include a built-in heart rate sensor.

Gurman claims that Apple might also be updating the iPad 11, iPad Air with M3, and MacBook Air with M4 this week. Stay tuned for all the latest updates.
