TL; DR
  • Prosser’s iOS 19 mockups show a “glass-like” redesign, but Gurman says they are not representative of the redesign.
  • Gurman also teased a major iOS 19 overhaul, but has not shared any mockups or descriptions of what the redesign would look like.

iOS 19 rumors have started to heat up ahead of Apple’s WWDC 2025, set for June 9-13. Yesterday, leaker Jon Prosser dropped mockups of the upcoming iOS 19, claiming they reflect the “real deal” based on what he’s seen. But Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman quickly pushed back, stating on social media that Prosser’s images “aren’t representative” of the actual redesign.

A redesign is coming but not like this

Prosser’s mockups, shared earlier today, show subtle tweaks: a Messages app with updated navigation buttons and a rounded keyboard, plus a Lock Screen with minor translucency changes.

He described a broader shift toward a “glass-like” aesthetic with rounded elements, drawing inspiration from visionOS, Apple’s interface for the Vision Pro. However, Gurman dismissed these as either based on “very old builds” or “vague descriptions,” lacking key features.

In his Power On Discord channel, Gurman doubled down, suggesting Prosser “hasn’t seen the real thing.” This clash comes amid high expectations for iOS 19, which Gurman previously called the biggest design overhaul since iOS 7 in 2013.

He has hinted at a “fundamental change” to the OS, with updated icons, menus, apps, and system buttons, all loosely modeled after the Vision Pro’s glass-like translucent look.

Gurman’s advice to “expect more in June” points to WWDC 2025, where Apple will likely unveil the full scope of iOS 19 alongside macOS 16. Until then, the leaker showdown keeps the rumor mill spinning.
