Hyundai Creta Electric vs. Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara: Key Takeaways

  • Right off the bat, the Hyundai Creta Electric is longer and taller than the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara, which results in a larger boot space and slightly better headroom. However, the e-Vitara is wider, implying that it should offer better shoulder room, especially for three passengers.
  • In terms of ground clearance, it is the Creta Electric that sits higher on the road (at 190 mm).
  • Interestingly, the e-Vitara has a longer wheelbase than the Creta Electric. Generally, cars with a longer wheelbase provide a better ride quality; they are more stable at higher speeds.
  • Although we don’t have any information about the Creta Electric’s weight, the e-Vitara weighs up to 1,899 kgs (the AWD variant).
  • Hyundai offers a range of 472 km with a 51.4 kWh battery pack. The real-world tests are already out, where the vehicle lasts for around 400 km on a single charge (tested in January in India).
  • On the other hand, Maruti says that the e-Vitara will offer over 500 km with the 61 kWh battery pack. However, we’d like to wait for the official range numbers to come in before commenting on them.
  • The option to get an all-wheel-drive variant of the e-Vitara gives the vehicle (and the company) an edge over its competitors in the market.
  • While Hyundai relies on NMC technology, Maruti has chosen LFP batteries.
  • The e-Vitara seems to offer bigger tires (18-inch vs. 17-inch).
  • If Maruti manages to keep its price under control, it could possibly undercut Creta Electric’s long-range variant, which will be the more affordable electric SUV for buyers.
