Gaming on Arm-Based Windows Devices Finally Levels Up: New Control Panel, AVX Support, and Anti-Cheat Fixes

Microsoft and Qualcomm are making significant strides in making Windows on Arm a legitimate gaming platform. Thanks to a flurry of recent updates, laptops powered by the Snapdragon X-series chips are gaining new tools, drivers, and compatibility improvements that bring PC gaming closer to parity with their x86-based cousins.

Snapdragon Control Panel Brings PC-Grade Game Tuning to Arm

At the center of the push is the newly released Snapdragon Control Panel (also known as the Adreno Control Panel on devices powered by the Snapdragon X chipset). This utility automatically scans your installed games and offers per-title tuning, including frame rate caps, texture filters, anti-aliasing, and super resolution.

Prism Emulator Gets AVX/AVX2 Support for Wider Game Compatibility

The tool will also let you install updated Adreno GPU drivers. Qualcomm says the driver updates already include fixes and optimisations for more than 100 games. On the emulation side, Microsoft’s improved Prism emulator, which previously ran x86 apps on Arm, now supports x86/64 Advanced Vector Extensions (AVX/AVX2).

With AVX emulation enabled and the latest Snapdragon X devices supported, video games that previously wouldn’t launch can now be played on Arm-based devices. Multiplayer and competitive gaming have also been improved through collaborations with major anti-cheat vendors, including Easy Anti-Cheat, BattleEye, Tencent’s ACE, and Roblox’s Hyperion.

Xbox PC App Finally Supports Local Game Downloads on Arm

With all those changes, Snapdragon PCs now support titles like Fortnite with kernel-level anti-cheat compatibility. Finally, the Xbox PC app on Windows for Arm has been updated to support local game downloads for ARM64-compatible titles, lifting previous restrictions that required cloud streaming as the only option.

Moreover, the series of updates represents a turning point for Arm-based Windows laptops, which are now much more viable for gaming than they were just last year. The combination of dedicated software control, native driver updates, emulation improvements, and stronger anti-cheat support signals that the Arm gaming ecosystem on Windows is gathering some real momentum.
