The OPPO Find X9 Pro is still a few months away, with a launch expected in China either next month or in October, and an India release likely in late November. But we already have exclusive details on its entire camera system, and it looks like OPPO is going all in on upgrades this year.
The quad-camera setup is gone, but what we’re getting instead is bigger sensors, brighter apertures, and even a tele-macro lens. Plus, OPPO has renewed its Hasselblad partnership, so expect some serious improvements in color science and image processing.
1. Main Camera Gets a Huge Upgrade
The primary sensor is now the 50MP Sony LYT828, a 1/1.28-inch sensor with a 23mm focal length and a super-bright f/1.5 aperture. This setup allows 48% more light intake compared to last year’s LYT808 (1/1.4-inch, f/1.6).
3. Telephoto Goes Ultra
This is where OPPO is making the biggest leap with the Find X9 Pro’s camera setup. The telephoto lens moves from the 50MP Sony IMX882 (1/1.95-inch, f/2.65, 73mm, 42cm focusing distance), which struggled with macros, to a jaw-dropping 200MP Samsung HP5 (1/1.56-inch, f/2.1, 70mm) sensor. This will be at 3X.
And this lens supports a 10cm minimum focusing distance. That means true telemacro photography, similar to what we saw on the Find X8 Ultra. In fact, on paper, this telephoto looks as capable as, if not better than, the X8 Ultra’s.

3. The Ultra-Wide Gets a Newer Sensor
The ultra-wide is also being refined, moving from the older JN1 to the 50MP Samsung JN5 (1/2.76-inch, f/2.0, 15mm). It supports a 3cm focusing distance and autofocus.
4. Much Better Selfie Camera
The front camera is getting its biggest upgrade in years. OPPO is replacing the 32MP Sony IMX615 (1/2.74-inch, f/2.4, 21mm, fixed focus) with a 50MP Samsung JN5 (1/2.76-inch, f/2.0, 21mm) that now supports autofocus. This is a massive deal since the Find X8 Pro’s fixed focus front camera was a weak point.

5. Multi-spectral Sensor
The OPPO Find X9 Pro will also include a multi-spectral sensor, similar to the one seen on the Find X8 Ultra. This additional sensor is designed to improve white balance, enhance depth mapping, and contribute to overall image processing. With this inclusion, the Find X9 Pro can technically be considered a quad-camera setup.
Here’s a comparison of the OPPO Find X9 Pro’s camera setup against the OPPO Find X8 Pro.

Final Thoughts
The OPPO Find X9 Pro is shaping up to be one of the most powerful camera phones of the year. Losing one sensor in favor of larger, brighter, and more capable ones feels like a smart move, and the tele-macro addition might be its biggest upgrade yet. If Hasselblad tuning is as strong as last year, the X9 Pro could be one of the best Android camera phones in 2025, at least in India.
So, what do you think about these upgrades? Would you trade a quad setup for these kinds of improvements? Let us know in the comments.
