Amid all the hustle and bustle inside an Indian household, spills, and dust are daily adversaries one can’t get rid of. From dining table mishaps to the ever-present dust on the floors, keeping the home clean often feels like a battle and one that involves two stages, no less. First, one has to sweep and then mop for the squeaky clean look. If you’re tired of juggling between a vacuum cleaner and a mop, a wet and dry vacuum cleaner can become your best friend.

Dreame K10 Pro Review: Unboxing Experience

For someone who’s purchasing such a device for the first time, the unboxing experience could be a bit of an adventure (in a good way). The Dreame K10 Pro comes in a substantially big box, which contains all the different parts of the device, disassembled to save space.

First up, there’s the handle with controls on the top-front portion for powering the vacuum cleaner on, changing modes, and a self-cleaning button. Then there’s the main body, which contains the fresh (890 ml) and dirty water (600 ml) tanks, along with the central motor, all enclosed in a premium white exterior. The bottom portion features wheels and a cleaning brush.

You’ll also find the charging base, power adapter, and a cleaning brush inside the box (for the water tanks). Giving credit where due, Dreame has put enough brains into the packaging of the item, as it would often need to travel hundreds of kilometers before reaching the buyer, and secure packaging always prevents any damage during shipment.

Dreame K10 Pro Review: Initial Setup & Ease Of Use

While I unboxed all the different parts of the vacuum cleaner, my sister picked up the user manual, which, frankly, contains a lot of useful information, especially for someone who’s getting a wet and dry vacuum cleaner for the first time. However, before she could help me with what goes where, I picked up the handle and inserted it into the top of the main body (it clicked into place), and that was it.

After that, I simply had to place the K10 Pro on its charging base, which can be a bit tricky the first time, as you need to align the pins on the base with the markings at the bottom of the device’s body and then plug in the power adapter. As I was about to turn on the device and give it a first spin around my living room, my sister told me that the manual asks to charge the device completely before using it for the first time.

With a heavy heart, I let the device rest on the charging base. Anyway, the cordless vacuum cleaner’s battery was at 65% out of the box, and it took another hour or an hour and a half to charge to 100%. Moreover, assembling the device and setting it up for the first use was no challenge.

Dreame K10 Pro Review: Design & Build Quality

The Dreame K10 Pro sports a familiar upright cordless design, something we’ve seen in modern wet and dry vacuum cleaners. Due to its wider base, suitable locking angle, and excellent weight distribution, the device can stand on its own, offering a small yet significant convenience. Now, let’s talk about the device’s ergonomics and handling comfort.

With such devices, the primary touchpoint is usually the handle at the top. On the Dreame K10 Pro, the handle is made of high-quality plastic with a textured or matte finish, resulting in a comfortable grip. While gripping the handle, the main buttons of the device — power, cleaning mode, and self-cleaning — are easily accessible. All you’ve to do is move your thumb to reach the front of the handle and press the required physical button.

Although the buttons produce a satisfying click sound, I am a bit concerned about their durability in the long run. The rest of the handle, as well as the rear side of the vacuum cleaner, is built out of matte plastic. However, the front portion, along with some parts of the roller brush assembly (the area covered in white), is made of glossy plastic, which is much more prone to scratches.

The vacuum cleaner also features two translucent water tanks (with a black hue), both of which are attached to the main body through a press-and-pull mechanism. To prevent water from leaking from the containers, rubber coverings are placed on the outlets to avoid accidental spillage. The clean water tank also has a rubberized lid at the top.

Moving toward the bottom of the device, there is a brush roller assembly, which consists of release buttons at the top, an unlocking level to the right (when looking at the device from the front), a cylindrical brush, and four wheels. Moreover, the entire body, from the handle at the top to the brush housing at the bottom, feels robust and durable enough for daily use.

What’s good is that the device locks the cleaning mechanism once you tilt it over to the side of the roller brush assembly; it only starts cleaning once you’ve unlocked it. I couldn’t hear any creaks or flexes while picking up the device from its charging case, placing it on the floor, leaning the handle toward me, and moving the vacuum cleaner back and forth.

While maneuvering the vacuum cleaner, the main body swivels on the brush roller assembly to a good degree, making it easier to navigate around furniture legs. While gliding it on the floor, the device tends to move forward (due to the motion of the brush roller), so keep your push force in check.

Dreame states that the device weighs 3.8 kg, but it’s unclear whether this weight includes the water tanks or not at the moment. Either way, the device can feel a bit heavy when carrying it from one room to another, but it doesn’t feel as hefty when using it to clean floors. The housing around the screen is also covered in a matte texture, and the screen itself comes with a thin film pre-applied to protect against scratches.

Dreame K10 Pro Review: Performance & Cleaning

Dreame K10 Pro Review: Powerful And Convenient Wet/Dry Cleaning For Indian Households

The idea behind a wet and dry vacuum cleaner is simple: it allows you to pick up dirt, debris, or crumbs while simultaneously mopping the floor to clean any stubborn stains or spills. It is its two-in-one nature that makes the Dreame K10 Pro an effective and convenient device for keeping your floors clean.

The first part — vacuuming — is handled by a high-speed brushless motor capable of reaching speeds of up to 120,000 RPM, generating a suction force of 15,000 Pa (Pascals). Whether you’re dealing with fine dust particles, pet hair, cookie crumbs, or a cola spill, the K10 Pro’s suction power is sufficient to lift and remove debris from various types of hard floors (such as tile and marble) with ease.

The second part — mopping — is taken care of with the clean water tank, a small water dispenser located within the lower assembly, the brush roller, and, of course, the powerful motor that generates enough suction force to siphon the dirty water into a separate tank. While the flat front scraper handles hair and dirt residue, the rear rubber scraper reduces residual water, which helps minimize water streaks.

Before powering on the wet and dry vacuum cleaner, remember to fill the clean water tank. I’ve been using the device on my tile-based floor (to clean my bedroom and a hall) for over 10 days, and it does an excellent job of picking up whatever is in its way, including fine dust, debris, hair tangles, muddy footprints, tea/coffee spills, kitchens messes like sugar, raw flour, or even the water that leaks from my old indoor cooler. The advanced dirt detection feature dynamically adjusts the suction power.

While you can switch between the dedicated modes using the mode-selector button on the handle, I set and left the K10 Pro on Auto Mode, wherein the appliance adjusts the suction power and the roller’s rotation speed (up to 540 RPM) based on the stain. The fact that the device can pick up dirt and mop the floor at the same time without any external intervention is really appreciable (coming from someone who owns a dry vacuum cleaner).

It was once that I used the dedicated Suction Mode, which uses immense suction power to clean the spilled water on the floor, and it didn’t disappoint me. Even though the Turbo Mode cleaned up a coffee stain and a fresh ink stain right off, it struggled with the days-old water stains around a leaky tap in my place. I believe that the brush roller is too soft for such stains or marks, but at the same time, it does a remarkable job of cleaning up most stains on hard floor surfaces.

Dreame K10 Pro Review: Powerful And Convenient Wet/Dry Cleaning For Indian Households

With Self Cleaning, the device automatically cleans its brush roller (when plugged into the charging base and the battery is above 20%) by dispensing clean water, rotating the brush, and using scrapers to clean any residual dirt. The powerful suction vacuum ups all the dirty water during self-cleaning and deposits it in the dirty water tank.

And don’t worry; you can also clean the roller brush manually by taking it out and washing it under running water. Similarly, you can also clean the roller brush cover and the used water tank. Speaking of the water tank, I had to refill it almost every day. The dirty water tank, on the other hand, fills up every two to three cleaning sessions.

The only drawback I noticed was the K10 Pro’s limited effectiveness in cleaning tight wall corners, especially the tricky areas where two walls meet. Due to the roller brush’s design, it leaves a narrow strip (6 mm or less) uncleaned. Although you might not notice it initially, the accumulation of a relatively thick layer of dust in the corners over a couple of days may draw your attention (something that my sister pointed out on the ninth day of usage and handed me a broom to clean).

It is in the Turbo Mode that the K10 Pro sounds the loudest, but even then, it isn’t as loud as my conventional dry vacuum cleaner. While the manual recommends replacing the brush roller after three to six months of use, it appears that the replacement isn’t yet available (or at least I couldn’t find it).

Dreame K10 Pro Review: Display & Voice Prompts

You can monitor the active cleaning mode, along with the device’s remaining battery, on the small yet useful display. At the center, it displays the battery percentage, which is perhaps the most important metric to be aware of at all times. Then, the screen also contains icons for Suction Mode and Turbo mode (above the battery percentage indicator). While the Deep Cleaning function indicator is at the left of the screen, the Auto Mode indicator is at the right.

At the bottom, there are three indicators that inform you when the used tank water is full, when the brush roller is stuck, or when there is insufficient water in the clean water tank. By default, you’d see a blue light around the screen, but it also turns red based on the dust concentration (like a speedometer).

Along with the LED display, the Dreame K10 Pro also provides voice prompts about activating the deep cleaning function or when the cleaning tank is empty. However, I could never hear the voice prompts while cleaning, as the device’s sound, although not as loud, drowned out the prompts. They sure are audible when the device is quiet.

Dreame K10 Pro Review: Battery Life & Charging Time

The Dreame K10 Pro wet and dry vacuum cleaner features a “7 x 2400mAh” battery pack, which claims to provide up to 30 minutes of runtime on a single charge. Furthermore, the device’s power adapter features a circular barrel connector, which means that if you accidentally break it, you may have a difficult time finding a replacement with the exact same power configuration.

On a full charge, I could use the K10 Pro (in Auto Mode) for around 25 minutes, during which I cleaned both my bedroom and my sister’s bedroom, as well as the hall in the front (amounting to a total area of about 900 – 1000 square feet), with 14% battery to space. Although the battery depletion was fairly predictable throughout the cleaning session, it started dropping way faster than the 20% mark (which is when the device starts prompting you to place it on the charging base).

The charging time is when the device lets down a bit. Even though the device rests in its charging base permanently, the fact that it takes around four hours to charge completely is something I couldn’t ignore. I plugged in the device at 11:06 AM yesterday (with a 6% battery), and when I checked at 2:31 PM (three hours and 25 minutes later), the battery was at 84%.

While it didn’t affect me (as I usually clean the floor once every day), it could be an issue for someone who wants to clean a larger area at once (over the 2152 square feet rated by the company).

Review Verdict: Should You Buy The Dreame K10 Pro Wet & Dry Vacuum Cleaner?

The Dreame K10 Pro is excellent at what it does: vacuum and mop at the same time, making the entire process much more convenient and efficient for you. Its powerful suction doesn’t leave any bits or spills behind, and neither does the roller brush struggle with fresh stains. The battery life is sufficient to clean a typical 2BHK flat (approximately 800-1200 square feet) in one go.

Moreover, the Dreame K10 Pro wet and dry vacuum cleaner could be a solid choice for working professionals who maintain their own homes or as a gift for homemakers, as it will help them save a significant amount of time.

However, I wouldn’t recommend people living in smaller spaces to invest in the device, as it demands a substantial investment. Furthermore, people living in larger places might not be able to finish cleaning the entire floor area before the device’s battery runs out.

In my opinion, the Dreame K10 Pro is one of the few devices built for a specific audience, which is beneficial, as it stands out in the segment with its robust build quality, strong suction, and the ability to handle both dry and wet cleaning.
