TL; DR
  • By the fourth month of the year, car makers would have announced a third increase in the prices of their passenger vehicles.
  • The price hike comes as a shocker for middle-class and low-income group buyers as even the most affordable vehicles from the companies will witness an increase in their ex-showroom prices.
  • According to documents submitted by the automaker to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), Maruti Suzuki is about to hike the prices of its passenger vehicles by up to 4%.
  • Hyundai Motors has also announced yet another price hike in 2025. In January, the company increased the prices of Venue and Creta, among other models.

The Indian automobile market is about to witness another price hike since January 2025. Every year, companies announce a price surge as soon as the fresh stocks are ready to leave the stockyards. This year was no different, with almost all automakers announcing an increase in price owing to increased operations and maintenance costs.

However, unlike other years, 2025 isn’t as easy on potential car buyers. By the fourth month of the year, car makers would have announced a third increase in the prices of their passenger vehicles (counting the one in January and February and the upcoming hike in April 2025).

Automakers Unanimously Announce An April Price Hike

Reports have already started to show up about major brands — like Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Motors, and Kia Motors — and how they’ve decided to hike the prices yet again by up to four percent.

The price hike comes as a shocker for middle-class and low-income group buyers as even the most affordable vehicles from the companies will witness an increase in their ex-showroom prices.

Popular vehicles like Brezza LXI, WagonR VXI, and Swift LXI might witness a price hike of up to Rs. 35,000, Rs. 30,500, and Rs. 26,000, respectively. Although the numbers aren’t official, we’ve seen the company hike the prices similarly in February (when Celerio’s top model got a hike of Rs. 32,500).

In February 2025, Maruti Suzuki revised the prices of its affordable variants as well, like the Alto K10, Celerio, and Swift.

Hybrid Hyundai Creta could launch by 2026

Following the footsteps of Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai Motors has also announced yet another price hike in 2025. In January, the company increased the prices of Venue and Creta, among other models.

From April 1, 2025, the automaker will revise the prices of its entire range by up to 3%, from the Grand i10 Nios to the Tuscon. While the extent of the hike will vary on the model, the company is passing on the increase in operation and raw material cost to its customers for the second time.

Mahindra XEV 9e

Valid across its entire lineup, Mahindra and Mahindra has announced a price hike of up to 3%. This will affect models like the XUV700, Thar (three-door and Roxx), Scorpio N, and Bolero alike.

Kia

Hyundai’s subsidiary Kia has also announced a price hike of up to 3% across its lineup in the country. The hike will affect the prices of ICE vehicles like Sonet, Syros, Seltos, Carens, and Carnival and electric offerings like the EV6 and the EV9.
