TL;DR
  • Apple will host WWDC 2025 from June 9th to 13th June.
  • The Event might not be as grand as previous editions.
  • Software updates like iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and more are expected.
  • No major hardware announcements tipped.

Apple is prepared to host its annual Worldwide Developers Conference 2025 from June 9 to June 13. The event will commence with a keynote presentation on Monday at 10:00 AM Pacific Time and will include online sessions and labs for developers to explore new software features and their applications.

However, this year’s WWDC 2025 may not be as spectacular as those in the past.

This assertion comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman in his newsletter Power On, where he indicates that significant new hardware or software announcements are unlikely at this year’s WWDC. He states, “There are no major new devices ready to ship.”

Certain Apple employees feel that this year’s WWDC may be a disappointment from an AI perspective as well. Gurman asserts that Apple is unlikely to demonstrate significant progress in keeping pace with top competitors in the generative AI field, such as OpenAI and Google, which may highlight Apple’s deficiencies even further.

Gurman is optimistic that Apple will provide an update on Swift Assist during WWDC, and he anticipates that SwiftUI will feature a rich text editor. The revamped software platforms from Apple are likely to be a major attraction for many Apple enthusiasts. These updates will encompass iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS 26, tvOS 26, and watchOS 26, all of which will showcase a new visionOS-inspired glass-like design, incorporating more translucent user interface elements such as menus, buttons, and icons. There is a chance of new hardware like the Mac Pro, but details remain scarce at this time.

Gurman writes, “The updated interface will certainly be the standout announcement, even if it risks sending the message that Apple is stuck in the past.”

Overall, this year’s WWDC could be appealing to those who prefer the redesigned software platforms over Vision Pro and Apple Intelligence, while others may find it disappointing. Nevertheless, Apple is anticipated to intensify its focus on AI as we approach 2026, with the company continuing to develop a conversational version of Siri similar to ChatGPT, an updated Shortcuts app driven by Apple AI, and additional innovations.

We will get to know more about the WWDC 2025 soon, as it is just a week away. Apple will stream the WWDC keynote on Apple.com, Apple Developer app, Apple Developer website, Apple TV, and YouTube.
