Apple’s Vision Pro, launched in February 2024 after being announced at WWDC in June 2023, has expanded its availability from the United States to countries like Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, the China mainland, and Singapore. But despite the hype, the Vision Pro hasn’t quite hit the mark.
The $3,500 price tag and the headset’s weight have been major pain points, leading to a high number of returns. Some users even reported feeling sick after using it, leading to quick returns.

Likely due to these issues, Apple has put the development of the Vision Pro 2 on hold and is now shifting focus towards a more affordable version of the Vision Pro. The news comes from a report that claims that suppliers of the Vision Pro have been told that the Vision Pro 2’s development has been suspended until further notice.
Originally, rumors hinted that the Vision Pro 2 would drop by August 2025. With development now suspended, this timeline has been pushed back even further. Instead, Apple is working on a cheaper model, possibly called the Apple Vision, aiming for a launch by late 2025. This could coincide with the iPhone 17 release or be part of a special event in October.

The new Apple Vision is expected to start at around $1,500, a far cry from the current Vision Pro’s $3,500. This budget-friendly version will likely keep the high-end display of the Pro model but might feature a simpler headband, smaller speakers, and fewer 3D cameras to keep costs down. However, balancing a lower price with enough features is proving to be a tough challenge for Apple.

While the Vision Pro 2 could still happen in the future, Apple’s current focus is on developing this more affordable version. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments below.
